Here's a great post by George Paukert! It struck a cord in me and I thought I'd share it!
I am a news "fanatic" and try to keep up with what's going on in our great country. The economy is killing all kinds of businesses which has a huge impact on the real estate business. I know some markets are holding their own, but the majority are seeing a spiraling downward trend.
Along with the economy we see more and more government programs intervening in our lives and businesses.
A few days ago I came across this quote from Abraham Lincoln who happens to be my favorite president. I felt it was very timely for what's going on with our economy right now and wanted to share it with you. Maybe we should follow the advice from 150 years ago ...
"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. "
